HFPA ELECTS THREE NEW MEMBERS: PATRICIA DANAHER, JANET R. NEPALES AND MAGNUS SUNDHOLM

 
HOLLYWOOD, CA, May 12, 2008 – The Hollywood Foreign Press Association elected Patricia Danaher, Janet R. Nepales and Magnus Sundholm as new members at the membership meeting on May 8, it was announced today by Jorge Camara, President.
Patrcia Danaher writes for The Sunday Tribune and The Irish Examiner (Ireland),
 Janet R. Nepales writes for Star Studio Magazine (Philippines), and Magnus Sundholm writes for Aftonbladet (Sweden).
The three new members join the association’s roster of 83 active members.

HFPA ANNOUNCES TIMETABLE FOR “THE 66th ANNUAL GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS”

HOLLYWOOD, CA, April 22, 2008 – Jorge Camara, President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, announced the timetable for “The 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards” to be telecast Sunday, January 11, 2009 from 8-11 PM (EST) live from The Beverly Hilton on NBC.

HFPA’S 2008 GRANT APPLICATIONS DEADLINE HAS PASSED

HOLLYWOOD, CA, April 1, 2008 – The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced that its 2008 deadline for grant applications has passed. 
 
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s Charitable Trust (the HFPA Trust) was established to oversee the HFPA’s cultural and educational activities. The HFPA Trust is the philanthropic arm of the HFPA, which distributes the HFPA’s income from the Golden Globe Awards. The next deadline will be in March 2009.

HFPA ACCEPTING NEW MEMBER APPLICATIONS

HOLLYWOOD, CA, January 23, 2008 – The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) announced that it will now again accept applications from professional journalists who wish to become members of the organization.

           In order to qualify for membership the applicant must have a permanent, primary residence in Southern California, qualify under the HFPA Active Member definition, be registered with the Motion Picture Association of America in their International Directory for at least one year preceding the date of the application, and be sponsored by two active members of the HFPA.  Additional rules and the required official Membership Application Form can be found by clicking here.

 
 
The deadline for the 2008 New Member Application submissions is Friday, March 28, 2008.

Steven Spielberg To Receive HFPA’s Cecil B. DeMille Award At 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards

HOLLYWOOD, CA – Since this year’s Golden Globe Awards was cancelled, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Board of Directors has decided to honor Steven Spielberg with the Cecil B. DeMille Award for his “outstanding contribution to the entertainment field” at the 2009 Golden Globe Awards telecast. Also, Rumer Willis, the daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, will participate as Miss Golden Globe at the 2009 event.

HOLLYWOOD, CA, January 11, 2008 – After discussions with NBC, Hollywood Foreign Press Association President Jorge Camara today announced that the HFPA will have complete control of its 65th Annual Golden Globe Awards Announcement that is scheduled to take place Sunday, January 13 at 6:00 p.m. PST in the International Ballroom of The Beverly Hilton. Under the new arrangement, there will be no restrictions placed on media outlets covering the press conference.

RECIPIENTS OF “THE 65th ANNUAL GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS” TO BE ANNOUNCED AT BEVERLY HILTON PRESS CONFERENCE ON JAN. 13

HOLLYWOOD, CA, January 7, 2008 – The Hollywood Foreign Press Association today announced that the recipients of Golden Globe Awards in 25 categories will be revealed during an hour-long HFPA press conference at The Beverly Hilton to be covered live by NBC News beginning at 6:00 pm PST on January 13.  “The 65th Annual Golden Globe Awards” NBC telecast and champagne dinner in The Beverly Hilton’s International Ballroom is officially cancelled.  

            “We are all very disappointed that our traditional awards ceremony will not take place this year and that millions of viewers worldwide will be deprived of seeing many of their favorite stars celebrating 2007’s outstanding achievements in motion pictures and television,” said Jorge Camara, President of The Hollywood Foreign Press Association.  “We take some comfort, however, in knowing that this year’s Golden Globe Award recipients will be announced on the date originally scheduled.”
