HFPA VISIT SEVEN PSYCHOS
Some of us get to lie in bed and work – particularly if you are Golden Globe winner Colin Farrell, who talked with HFPA members on location for his latest movie, Seven Psychopaths, which reteams the actor with his In Bruges director/writer, Martin McDonagh. In the movie, a visual love story to the City of Angels that includes locations in downtown, the desert and the Hollywood Sign, Farrell portrays a struggling screenwriter who inadvertently becomes entangled in the Los Angeles underworld after his friends (Sam Rockwell and Christopher Walken) kidnap a gangster’s (Woody Harrelson) Shih Tzu. The HFPA visited the set in a rented Silverlake home where the Irish actor lolled in bed, delivering variations on a scene with Abbie Cornish, who portrays his girlfriend, and Rockwell. SANCTUM FILMMAKER DIES IN HELICOPTER CRASH
Australian filmmaker and deep-sea diver Andrew Wight, who met with the HFPA last year to discuss his 3D film Sanctum, has died in a helicopter crash on the south coast of Australia.
Wight, 52, worked closely with Oscar-winning director James Cameron, who co-produced Sanctum with him. A shared love of diving led to the friendship between Wight and the director of Titanic and Avatar, and Wight had worked with Cameron on a variety of underwater-related films including Ghosts of the Abyss, Expedition Bismarck, Aliens of the Deep and Last Mysteries of the Titanic in the last decade.
Cameron said in a statement: “Andrew was kind and loyal, full of life and a sense of fun, and above all, a careful planner who stressed safety to everyone on his team every single day. It is cruelly ironic that he died flying a helicopter, which was second nature to him like driving a car would be to most people.”

DALLAS IS BACK
After 20 years the popular drama Dallas is returning to television, so members of the HFPA paid a visit to Texas to talk to the cast of the new series and to visit the famous Southfork ranch. The original series, which ran for 365 episodes from 1978 to 1991, was seen in 96 countries and dubbed into 55 languages.
The new Dallas, which will begin airing in the U.S in June, features several of the original cast, including Larry Hagman as J.R., Patrick Duffy as Bobby and Linda Gray as Sue Ellen, as well as a new generation of Ewings, portrayed by Josh Henderson as J.R.’s son John Ross and Jesse Metcalfe as Bobby’s son Christopher, with Jordana Brewster and Julie Gonzalo as their girlfriends.
Larry Hagman, now 81, says of the new Ewings: “If you think J.R. was bad, wait until you see these guys in action. It’s an eye-opener. You’ve got to really pay attention to this show because things happen so quickly and people get stabbed in the back so fast by their loved ones. I keep reading the scripts and saying, ‘My God, how far are they going to go with this?
“Well, they’re going to go a long way.”
