ROLLING OUT THE RED CARPET

With only two days to go before the Golden Globes awards show, workmen are rolling out the red carpet and constructing bleachers alongside it for fans who are lucky enough to have tickets to see the stars arriving up close.

The show’s 1,300 guests will walk the 30,000-foot long red carpet from Merv Griffin Way to the front door of the hotel on Sunday for champagne and dinner before the show, which will be hosted by Ricky Gervais and televised live on NBC.

Inside the hotel staff are setting up the 120 round tables in the main ballroom with 10,000 pieces of Royal Doulton silverware, place settings and glasses and 20 flower arrangers are creating the table centrepieces.

It is expected that during the evening the guests at the show and the post-show parties will eat 10,000 pieces of sushi, drink 550 magnums of Moet & Chandon vintage 2002 champagne and 20,000 mixed drinks.
