Christian Bale, Golden Globe nominee as Best Supporting Actor for “The Fighter”, said to HFPA journalists:
“You can very quickly get an incredibly tight bond between a mother and a son, which can start off very well, but becomes something that is a great burden upon the son; and I think that is what happened with Dicky Eklund, that there was too much expectation of him at such a young age.”
